Peer Support

Peer Support is a service that connects individuals with trained peers who have lived experience overcoming similar challenges. Instead of just receiving help from professionals, individuals also gain guidance and encouragement from someone who truly understands their journey. Our peer support staff have completed the required training NCCPS Approved Course Training which consists of a total of 50 hours, at least 40 hours of face-to-face instruction and 10 hours completed through homework, and/or in-person training. Our peer support staff have also completed 20 hours of additional training that includes approved Ethics and Peer Support Boundaries training. Peer support includes:

  • Lived Experience: Peer supporters have faced and managed challenges such as mental health needs, recovery, or disability, and use their own experiences to inspire and guide others.

  • Emotional Support: Peers provide understanding, empathy, and encouragement in ways that feel relatable and authentic.

  • Skill Sharing: They model coping strategies, self-advocacy, and healthy decision-making to help individuals build confidence and resilience.

  • Goal-Oriented Guidance: Peer support helps individuals set and achieve personal goals—whether in recovery, daily living, or community integration.

  • Building Connections: It fosters a sense of belonging, reduces isolation, and strengthens support networks.

Why it matters:
Peer Support offers a unique layer of care by pairing professional services with real-life experience. It empowers individuals to see what’s possible, stay motivated, and build confidence in their own ability to succeed.
